A heaven on earth is what I can say. If you love nature and
want to relax this small island is just the place to go.
Langkawi is one of the most
beautiful Island that I have ever visited. Surrounded by turquoise blue sea.
Also known as jewel of Kedah. The entire island is duty free so there are many
options of shopping and drinks. Here mostly we saw people relaxing in the
resorts or just lying on the beaches with the novel and a cocktail. There are
many activities, which you can try like mangrove kayaking, cycling the island,
sailing and jungle trekking. One can spend any numbers of day in the island
relaxing and enjoying the beauty.
To reach there you can take a direct
flight from Kuala Lumpur and it takes approximately on hour to reach. You can even
take a ferry if you have enough time. We took the flight and as the flight descended,
the first view of the island was mesmerizing and at that very moment, I felt in
love with it.

(Beauty of Langkawi) |
We planned to spend a weekend in
Langkawi and it turned out to be a memorable weekend. To explore the island we
hired a scooter for two days, which gave us flexibility and was fun driving throughout
the island. It takes 3 to 4 hours and you can ride the entire island. Maximum
part of the island was full with trees around with lovely weather.
Places to Visit:
Beaches
 |
(Fun at Beach) |
Langkawi has many pristine beaches. It is biggest and most
impressive is Pantai Cenang and most famous among the tourist. There are number
of other beaches even and they are equally beautiful. If you want to relax then
I would recommend going for a private beach resort as these are full of tourist
and many water activities run.

(Sunset from the Beach) |
From the beach, we booked one
mangrove tour for three hours. It was a good experience the boatman took us in
the Andaman Sea and kept on briefing us about the history of the place. First
stop was fish farm. If you love, eating fish this is the perfect spot for you.
They have tons of varieties of fish some of them were very rare and expensive
even. They even sell fishes if you want to purchase. We fed some fishes and it
was a great experience.

(View from the boat as tour begin) |
We again headed to our journey
towards the Bat Cave. It was quite adventurous and the caves were entirely dark
no lights at all. We rented a flashlight (Torch) at entrance that was the only
light. The paths inside the cave were narrow and there were many bats on the
walls of the cave which you can see with the help of light and the cave was
full of the noises of the bat.
The journey followed with the
mangrove sightseeing to Klim Geo Forest Park, which was closed at that time so
we did not have a chance to visit inside. The entire tour took 3 hours approx.
and it was a good experience.

Langkawi Cable Car & Sky Bridge
 |
(View of Cable Cars) |
The best attraction of the island. It gives a magnificent view of the
entire island. The Sky Cab is a three-station cable car system covering a
distance of over 1,700 meters. Observation decks with 360° panoramic vistas of
the island are located at both the middle and top stations. As we reached the
top station, we got a panoramic view of the entire island. The entire island
looked lush green and we went at the sunset time, which was the best to visit
there.

(Sky Bridge) |
There you can also take a walk on the Sky Bridge, which is one of the
world’s longest curved suspension bridges at 125 meters. Unfortunately, it was
under renovation due to which we were unable to do. There is a small cafeteria
at the deck from where we grabbed a coffee and sat to enjoy the sunset and the
amazing view of the island.
Waterfalls
There are a few waterfalls on the island but Telaga Tujuh is arguably the
most impressive and we visited only this. Frequently billed as the island’s
most beautiful natural attraction, its name means Seven Wells Waterfalls, which
is in reference to its series of seven connected natural pools. Though cemented
and easy to walk on, be warned that there a quite a number of steps (approx.
600) to the top. As we reached the top there was a nice flowing water fall and
there we went beneath the fall and enjoyed the water sat and relaxed. As we
came down there are some nice cafeteria where we sat, relaxed, and enjoyed the
local food.
The flow of water depends on the season you are visiting. If you are interested in a heavy flow do check the season and then decide to go.
Kuah Town
Langkawi’s most developed area, Kuah Town is a bustling commercial area
that’s home to many shops, hotels, and restaurants. It is also, where you will
find the island’s most prominent landmark, Eagle Square. If you are traveling
to Langkawi by ferry, then you will be docking here. It was a nice walk along
the square. The best place to go for shopping in Langkawi.

Zoo and Aquarium
We have not visited the zoo and aquarium but heard it is good especially
if you are with children.
