48 Hours in Quebec City

Since I moved to Canada, I have been reading about the beauty of this picturesque town. I don’t think you will find such European charm anywhere else is North America from storied past, narrow alleys, and magnificent architecture. Plus, if you are brave enough to venture out in a bit of cold (I mean very cold ~-30 ° C), you will find this place turns literally into a fairy tale castle during Christmas that you may have only seen in Disney movies. How to reach You can fly to Jean Lesage International Airport, which is approximately 30 minutes away from Old Quebec City. The other option is to drive from Montreal, which is approximately 3 hours away. We drove to Quebec City from Toronto, which is approximately 8 hours. We didn’t want to rush, so we decided to split the drive over two days. We left Toronto i...

DUBAI

My visit to Dubai was a short trip. Before visiting I heard a lot about the city so, I was bit confused what actually would it be like. Will it be a desert or a well developed city. I still remember the day when I just entered the city what a view it was. It looked none the less than any developed country. Well developed Infrastructure with tall buildings and expensive cars running on the roads.

Since it was a short trip we tried to explore the major highlights of the city. As we got ready and moved out of the hotel on the roads it was full of hustle and bustle. Huge buildings on all sides with metro and cars running. We used metro to explore the city it was convenient and fast. Taxis are even not very expensive in Dubai.

Emirates Tower

(View in the night)
As we moved out the first view we got was of the emirates tower. They are two identical towers separated from each other. It is one of the identical building in the city. A nice view to start the journey of Dubai is what I can say to it.

Gold and Spike Souq

Its one of the biggest attraction in Dubai. It has one of the world’s largest gold market under one roof. Its also believed that they sell gold in the more purest form and compared to other countries it cheapest here. Its considered to be a souvenir of the country. Even if you do not want to buy anything I would recommend you to just go and visit.

(Ornaments of Gold)
As we entered the souq both the sides were shops of jewelers selling gold and diamond jewelries. I could just recall the period of kings and queens when they use to wear lots of gold. The shops displayed some huge necklaces made of gold which were just amazing. It was a huge market selling ornaments.

Dubai Creek Cruise or Ride

The best way to explore the creek is to take a cruise on the creek or take a boat ride for an hour or two. They took us from Old Dubai which includes Bur Dubai and Bastika area. It provided a glimpse of architecture and culture prevalent during early years. And also offers a nice contrast to all the glitz and glamour of Downtown Dubai. It was a nice and informative tour.

The best time to visit the creek is in the evening in the summers and afternoon in the winters.

Burj Khalifa: Tallest Building
(Burj Khalifa)

The best time to visit here is in the evening. As we reached there it was just so crowded even there was no place to stand. Finally, we managed to find a spot for us from where we can enjoy the view of the building as well as the amazing dancing fountain show that is held every evening.

(Dancing Fountain)

Its one of the best fountain show as the water dances with the rhythm of the music. I enjoyed a lot. It is repeated every 30 minutes’ interval. So even if you missed a nice spot you can certainly find a good spot and enjoy the next show.

(View from the top of Burj Khalifa)
To visit the observation deck of the tower do book your tickets before hand to avoid disappointment.

Burj Al Arab

The another most famous building of Dubai after Burj Khalifa. It’s a unique design building standing and maintain its aura between the city. It’s the only one seven-star hotel yet in the world. It has some nice restaurant which you can book in advance and visit.

Palm Atlantis

It is a man made island in the city and is said its in the design of palm tree. Truly speaking till you do not see by air you will not realize that its really build in the palm design. The best way to reach there is by a taxi.

(Palm Atlantis Hotel)
We visited Atlantis during the evening. It was time for sunset we walked at the corniche and found a spot and sat there to enjoy the sunset view. I still remember that day it was one of the best sunset I have ever seen till date. We saw sun slowly going inside the water. It was just so mesmerizing.

(Sunset at Atlantis)
After the sunset we headed towards the Atlantis Hotel. It was a huge hotel built with some unique architecture. There are so many activities to do inside like aquarium, shopping, pool etc.

The most important part of the town is the food. Here we got the opportunity to try various cuisines. You can easily find all the famous chains of restaurants in the world and almost every cuisine was easily available.

It was the end of the trip to the dream city Dubai. Due to scarcity of time we missed the two biggest attraction of the city i.e. Desert Safari for which Dubai is most famous for and Ski Dubai. Hope one day I will visit the city again and cover both the attractions.
